About your stay
A stylish addition to the city, The Mandala is a design hotel that puts guests in the heart of Potsdamer Platz. For all its decadent room amenities and high-design aesthetics, you’d be forgiven for thinking The Mandala was part of a large chain. But this privately owned address within walking distance of the Brandenburg Gate embodies everything that’s cutting-edge about Europe’s current capital of cool.
The Mandala Hotel, like Berlin itself, creates a good first impression. There’s the small, intimate lobby — flickering with candlelight and embellished with a gold mosaic fountain — that does nothing to prepare you for the scope of the rooms themselves, which are at least 400 square feet (enormous by European standards). All of the 158 guestrooms have apartment-style amenities, like kitchenettes and large wrap-around work stations, plus neutral, modern decor and abundant natural light.
FACIL Restaurant is one of Berlin’s current dining destinations, with a two Michelin-stars rating. At first glance, the hotel’s polished, chic vibe doesn't appear kid-friendly. But the spacious rooms appeal to parents with children in tow for the sheer comfort of space. Another wonderful apartment-like touch is the free use of washers and dryers, available on several floors throughout the hotel.
FACIL Restaurant, managed independently from the hotel but fronting the Mandala’s interior courtyard, is one of Berlin’s current dining destinations, with two Michelin stars and a menu full of local products. Marble and mahogany accents dominate, and an unusual glass-roofed dining area allows for stargazing during a late dinner.
For a loungey nightlife scene, head to the Mandala’s QIU Restaurant & Bar for a vision of “Miami meets Mitte, ” with Art Deco details and a mosaic wall cascading with water — all overlooking Potsdamer Platz. Or, for the ultimate city views, head up to the 11th-floor ONO Spa. The spa has separate sauna facilities for men and women, both with terrific city views. After a day of sightseeing in the capital, reinvigorate your feet with a stroll through the unique reflexology course on the spa’s terrace, designed to stimulate wellness in your body through pressure points in your feet.
